About Me

All,

I want to take a few moments to explain my motivation behind my weight loss and ultimately this blog. I want to thank everyone that has and is currently supporting me in this adventure.

My first motivation is myself. I have had several life experiences that have encouraged this. First, I have been experiencing severe back pain for a few months. I know a very large chunk of that pain relates to my weight. Second, I am big enough that there are a few things that I am uncomfortable doing. First and foremost is going to a restaurant. If I've never been there before I don't know where I will be able to sit and feel like I'm #1, able to fit in the booth. #2, that I don't feel like I'm going to break the chair if that is where we are seated. Another one is that movie theater seating is not designed for the larger figured person. I know as my baby girl grows up she'll want daddy to take her to the movies and I want to be able to do it without worrying.

My second motivation is my baby girl Miriam. She is my world. I want to see her grow up, have her own family and ultimately so I can be a grandfather to her children. I already have time against me on that so I don't want my weight to be a factor either.

I also want to grow old with my wife. She is all I could ever want and she is also joining me on this adventure. First by tolerating my attempts at finding good food both health wise and flavor wise. Second by just tolerating my schedule at all. She is my rock, she is my best friend and I will always be there for her and Miri through thick and thin.

Last, for my Friends and Family. The last few years I have come to appreciate my Friends and Family more and more. Especially my extended family and my God Daughter. I want to enjoy my time with them all.

A few other notes about me. I'm a computer geek. I work in the IT Field and my hours there are very weird. Those hours are a big challenge to my keeping with a diet. It is so much easier to go grab gas station food or fast food. But that is what has gotten me to this point in my life. Second to that is that I primarily have a desk job. I do a few physical things at work but mostly I work at a desk. so I don't get out and exercise, etc.

I also love to have a few cocktails from time to time including my favorite Templeton Rye Whiskey.
